conure emergency

Outside in the dark there is a conure emergency
Erupting. The parrots shriek and break the quiet,
Nocturnal chirping bugs stop - I hear no flutter
Of wings escaping. A cat perhaps encroaches on nests?
The racket dies. A truck climbs the hill across the valley.
