after the droughte of march
my attempt to participate in national poetry writing month
In 2007, I decided to try and write a poem every day. I haven't yet processed the experience, or even judged whether it was one unitary experience.
I'm not even sure if NaPoWriMo is a thing any more, but I decided to try again. These are obviously first drafts.

Burning Bush
blazing bougainvillea, the purple
burns my heart I cough ash
dust brown as the hills dry
to bone - amazed how fires leap
from petals through eyes and yet smell sweet
I am bewildered in all ways
